Scandinavian Design: Arne Vodder Rosewood Sideboard, Sibast Møbler, c. 1965

$13,500.00

Rosewood Sideboard designed by Arne Vodder c 1965. Manufactured by Sibast Møbler.

The stature and ‘lift” to this piece at 42” high, distinguishes itself from the more typical 34” high sideboards. The Rosewood grain is beautifully matched in a vertical pattern that includes both tight parallel grain as well as more organic plain sawn figuring. The refined minimalist door panels are detailed with flush recessed finger pulls and conceal abundant storage within: 5 rosewood faced drawers, 5 adjustable teak shelves, 1 floating glass shelf, a decorative mirrored section detailed with an interesting sandblasted geometric motif, and a lighting element concealed by a perforated rosewood rail. The bulb type is 15WA7.

Arne Vodder (1926-2009) was a Danish furniture designer known for his minimalist refined aesthetic. He was a student of the masterful Finn Juhl and later became a collaborator and close friend. Arne Vodder's design was an example of modernist design that was incorporated into the interior decoration of the White House during Jimmy Carter's administration.
